S.O.S. ECE Education in action is a brand new training on the so-called European Citizenship Education which is a subject still not taught in most of the European educational systems.
There are many possible lesson plans on European topics and many tools provided by the European Commission, websites, and EU projects aiming at training teachers to teach “Europe at school”.
This training will give participants a general overview of EU guidelines and policies creating a common base of knowledge and promoting a positive sense of community and critical spirit.
Another aspect of the training is the method. Schools are still very formal and teachers don’t know how to improve Non-Formal Education and Innovative approaches while teaching, especially those methods which imply the breaking of barriers and common cultural walls.
The actual educational guidelines ask teachers to be able to communicate more and make teaching appealing, international, transversal, and funny. With ECE Education it is possible to become more “European Teachers” and start a new teaching process widening the network and opening minds, creating cooperation, innovative skills, and competencies of all.
Knowing more about Europe and its opportunities means having a bigger perspective and being involved in many networks, knowing more information, and being able to explain what is happening in the European Union and the world.
JUMP has been running for years a project titled “We School Europe” involving many schools in Europe and has a training kit of tools and lesson plans to be shared and used by teachers adapting to every specific context. As with all JUMP training, part of the session will be in local schools working “directly” with teachers and students.
The title S.O.S. refers to our intention to deliver teachers a “Tool kit” of lesson ideas, methods, and practical and technological games which we have or can be created by teachers once they know how, useful also to cover those moments where a European subject can cover other specific subjects. ECE Education is transversal and can be taught at different levels also creating debates (if secondary school). This subject can be useful in the school schedule when subject teachers are absent and other teachers can enrich the curriculum with innovative European lessons.
LEARNING GOALS:
Participants can be any teacher at any level of education working in a public or private school or educational institutions
INTRO/METHOD
Like all our programs, the present one is flexible and adaptable to special requests, depending on the subject taught or on the starting level of the participant.
Furthermore, in line with the JUMP Academy method, our courses are based on a strategic balance between formal and non-formal education, indoor and outdoor education and the team takes care of a very important aspect of international mobility which is the intercultural learning which we develop with short excursions and facilitating the interaction with local partners, businesses and citizens of our territory. Each local context has its own economy so it’s always useful, in training programs, to get in contact with concrete examples (experiential learning and real based learning).
We always try to connect our learners to local teachers and students to cooperate in developing innovation and networking for future projects. If possible, inside the program, a morning is spent inside a local school, visiting, observing, and cooperating in the realization of one or more lessons. The proposed program JUMP works, in European dimension and with an international spirit, at the local level and, according to the period of the training along the year and the weather, it is possible to change some sessions and add visits and meetings, in cooperation with our network of partners including schools involved in European projects).

JUMP is based in Soverato (Catanzaro province), on the Jonian coast but the association cooperates with local partners and institutions of the surroundings towns and cities. Calabria region represents the deep South of Italy, known for the tropical climate and sandy beaches but also famous tall and green mountains.
During our trainings we also aim to make participants discovering the region, especially those old towns rich of culture, traditions, castles, small churches, narrow streets, colourful balconies, tropical flowers and local farms.
The nearest airport to Soverato is Lamezia Terme (SUF), 30 minutes far away from Soverato.
Our pick up is organized ONLY from and to this airport which is the biggest and the most important, connected to all the other cities in Italy and in Europe.
Many people like to stop in Rome or in Naples and take a train which is also comfortable and the journey along the coast is also pleasant (you see all the South).
JUMP proposes to participants to be lodged by Villa Gabriella International B&B managed by our local partner C.T.E. CENTRO TERRITORIALE EUROPEO company (https://closertoeurope.com/). The Villa has 7 big and comfortable rooms continuously renovated but also preserving the typical “old times” atmosphere of a very local house of Southern beach place. The Villa has many spaces for activities, a training room, the breakfast room, the terrace and flowers all around. It’s located in a peaceful and safe district called “Cittadella” surrounded by hills of olive trees and other Villas. JUMP created a network of other similar b&b for when participants are more than 12, in order to assure the same quality with an amazing breakfast, all comforts and an international environment. Villa Gabriella is also the JUMP headquarters for the general management of our activity. The Villa is the meeting point for all guests during all trainings and it’s where we realize all project activities.
Thanks to the cooperation with the C.T.E. company Jump provides lodging in 2 villas and if the groups are big, we have cooperation with all the owners of b&b and bigger hotels.
A brand new local partner, an innovative company offering touristic services with another vision and perspective. Discover Calabria and enjoy the local culture making experiential learning and practical labs with local people, but also simply a more sustainable tourism at local level.
The transfer from and to the airport is provided by C.T.E
During our trainings and mobility projects, while hosting our international guests from all over the world, JUMP involves the local network of partners and organizes different types of activities. This is not simply tourism, this is local development. This is JUMP Educational Tourism in Calabria region!
