Redesigning Education for the Generative AI Era: Advancing SDG 4 and Quality Learning for All

Generative AI is transforming the traditional teacher-student relationship by introducing a third participant: the AI agent. This triadic framework, centered on teacher-student-agent interactions, allows AI to provide personalized guidance, give real-time feedback, and support learning in ways that were not possible before. Rather than replacing teachers or students, AI becomes an active partner in the learning process.

In addition, this framework has the potential to evolve into multi-agent collaborative educational networks, where multiple AI agents interact with many students and teachers simultaneously. In these networks, AI can facilitate teamwork, collaborative projects, and shared problem-solving, effectively enhancing both individual learning and collective educational experiences.

This collection fosters and amplifies research related to SDG 4: Quality Education.

Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) of the United Nations emphasizes ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. In the era of generative AI, rethinking teaching and learning is not only a technological challenge but also a crucial step toward achieving these global educational goals. AI-driven tools and agents have the potential to enhance access, personalize learning, and foster collaboration, contributing directly to inclusive and effective educational experiences.

This article highlights how integrating generative AI into classrooms and educational networks can support SDG 4 objectives, from improving learning outcomes to promoting equitable access to high-quality education. By exploring teacher-student-AI interactions and the emerging multi-agent learning frameworks, this work demonstrates how educational innovation and global development goals can move forward together.

Publishing and sharing research on AI-enhanced education in alignment with SDG 4 ensures that your work reaches a wider audience, influences educational practice, and contributes meaningfully to the global mission of lifelong learning for all.
