Nowadays, we can’t avoid saying that the use of AI is driving our lives and having a strong impact on everyone but, in particular, in the field of teaching and education, it’s a powerful tool in the hands of a very large variety of professionals who can’t be defined as “experts”.
The dilemma is: is the use of Artificial Intelligence a matter of being digital and superskilled IT managers? How is it possible to fill the gap of AI literacy that we are living in this sector?
Teachers are facing the new frontiers of digital innovation in a framework which is still not governed by clear rules. Online offers of short, fast “eat&pay-and.go” courses are exploding.
In 2024, the European Union released the so-called “AI Act”, the first-ever legal framework on AI, which addresses the risks of AI and positions Europe to play a leading role globally.
The Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 is published and official. There’s a needed time for adapting but the educational sector and the labour global markets are sometimes fasters.
For sure, 99% of the new generation of teachers are using ChatGPT to reduce the overload of their work and find lesson plans materials catching and more appealing for their students. At the same time, students know all the existing tools and are surfing the same wave.
Apart from ChatGPT, Gemini, Canva, now Claude etc…. faster than the time we need to think, new apps are created as part of an industry in continuous development, mainly by new digital workers who were before our same young students at school.
According to the JUMP Academy approach it’s a matter of finding the right balance, learning the basics, practicing as much as possible and sharing among international teachers.
AI Literacy and Education: Reinventing the Daily Work of a Teacher in the Digital Era is a training course created for teachers who want practical answers. Participants do not need previous experience with AI or be an “expert” as said before. During structured days of training, teachers will learn how to prepare lessons, create learning materials, save time on everyday tasks and understand how AI can be used responsibly in education.
The course is based on practice. Instead of only watching demonstrations, teachers will build their own lesson, create presentations and classroom activities, prepare assessment materials and explore tools that can support their daily work. Every activity is connected to real situations that teachers face in school.
Teachers will also learn about the European AI Act and DigComp 2.2. Teachers will understand what has changed, what remains thier responsibility and how to use AI safely with students.
By the end of the course, participants will have their own lesson, the confidence to write their own prompts instead of copying ready-made ones, practical experience with AI tools and a clear plan for introducing AI into their own classroom.
LEARNING GOALS:
- Understand how digital education has changed and why concepts such as distance, blended and smart learning are no longer the same.
- Learn what DigComp 2.2 and the EU AI Act mean for schools and for your daily work as a teacher.
- Find, evaluate and adapt open educational resources (OER) for different classroom situations.
- Create interactive classroom activities using LearningApps, Educaplay and Genially.
- Design a complete lesson with AI, from the first idea to a finished presentation, using tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Canva AI, Gamma and NotebookLM.
- Adjust learning materials for different students by providing additional support, language assistance or extra challenges.
- Save time by using AI to create rubrics, support assessment and prepare meaningful student feedback.
- Prepare progress reports and parent communication more efficiently.
- Apply good practices for copyright, authorship and student data protection when working with AI.
- Help students develop responsible AI habits, including fact-checking, recognising bias and protecting personal information.
By the end of the course you will have:
- your own AI-supported lesson, ready to use;
- the confidence to write your own AI prompts, not borrowed ones;
- an AI teaching roadmap for your classroom;
- a collection of useful digital resources;
- new professional contacts from across Europe.

The course is open to all teachers working in public or private schools, as well as other educational institutions.
Program
Like all our programs, the present one is flexible and adaptable to special requests, depending on the subject taught or on the starting level of the participant. Furthermore, in line with the JUMP Academy method, our courses are based on a strategic balance between formal and non-formal education, indoor and outdoor education and the team takes care of a very important aspect of international mobility which is the intercultural learning which we develop with short excursions and facilitating the interaction with local partners, businesses and citizens of our territory. Each local context has its own economy so it’s always useful, in training programs, to get in contact with concrete examples (experiential learning and real based learning). We always try to connect our learners to local teachers and students to cooperate in developing innovation and networking for future projects. If possible, inside the program, a morning is spent inside a local school, visiting, observing, and cooperating in the realization of one or more lessons. The proposed program JUMP works, in European dimension and with an international spirit, at the local level and, according to the period of the training along the year and the weather, it is possible to change some sessions and add visits and meetings, in cooperation with our network of partners including schools involved in European projects).
WEEK DAILY SCHEDULE
Sunday: arrival of participants, transfer and welcome. Lodging. Depending on the time, support for a quick dinner in the city, free time and rest
Monday: 09:30 Meeting in the lobby of Villa Gabriella International, welcome, first briefing by the organizers, presentation of the team, logistics information, gadgets distribution and start of the program. Walking down to the city center. Outdoor team building game “The Mission Impossible in Soverato by JUMP”. Getting to know the important places of the city, orientation points, traditions and cultural elements, getting in contact with local citizens.
12:30 end of the morning activity Free time for lunch or to enjoy the beach Organized lift from the city center to the Villa.
Monday afternoon free time to recover from long trips and continue exploring the local context. Dinner organized for all the groups in a local restaurant.
Tuesday: 09:30 meeting on the terrace of Villa Gabriella. Outdoor ice-breaking game to get to know each other and build a good working climate. Small groups form for the week.
09:30–12:30: Module 1 — What Changed While You Were Teaching.
13:00–15:00 lunch break and free time.
15:00–17:30: 1st excursion — walking tour of Soverato Superiore, the Church of “La Pietà” (Gagini), and the old village streets, with interaction with local people.
Wednesday 09:30–13:00: Module 2 — From Blank Page to Finished Lesson (part 1)
13:00–15:00 lunch break and free time
15:00–17:00 Field session in the city of Soverato — collecting real photos, places and short interviews to use as material for your own lesson later in the module.
Thursday 09:30 – 13:00: Module 2 — From Blank Page to Finished Lesson (Part2) — building the lesson using what you collected in the field the day before.
13:00–15:00 lunch break and free time
15:00–17:30: Module 3 — After the Lesson Ends
Friday:09:30–11:00 (shorter session): Module 4 — Rules for You, Rules for Them. Then a short wrap-up session, bringing the whole week together — the lesson, the tools, the habits — into one finished piece.
11:00 free time to visit the local market which is nice and folkloristic.
On Friday it’s organized an excursion in a beautiful and unique old village and we spend there or the lunch or the dinner. The staff enjoys it and there’s a professional guide with us. Depending on the season the excursion starts in the morning or in the afternoon. From July to September it’s usually in the afternoon-evening for the high heat.
Saturday: 09:30 – 12:00 lesson. Closing the course: Evaluation and delivery of formal certificates/Europass and admin documents.
Saturday afternoon, free time and last moments all the participants together for socialization.
Sunday: departure of participants.

Module 1: The actual EU Legal Framework and an overview at the EU level about Countries which are advanced in AI regulations
Module 2: Ethical implications, philosophical traditions, Phenomenology and Post-phenomenology: How technologies mediate human experience
Module 3: WHAT CHANGED WHILE YOU WERE TEACHING.
MODULE 4: AI TOOLS – A list of most used tools and technological developments. From blank page to finished lesson plans
Module 5: What after the lesson? Assessment and further paths to check the effectiveness of AI empowerment
Module 6: Barriers, boundaries and new set of rules in the use of AI at school
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of the training week teachers will have:
- Explored how artificial intelligence is changing daily teaching practice, including its real benefits and its limits.
- Understood the key terms and rules that now shape digital and AI-supported teaching, including DigComp 2.2 and the EU AI Act.
- Practiced building and using AI across a full teaching cycle — planning, delivering and following up on a lesson — together with colleagues from across Europe.
- Understood how to use AI responsibly with students, and how to support colleagues back at school in doing the same.
Certification Details
JUMP certifies or 36 hours for 6 days course (6*6) or more if extra hours per day are needed. Or 30 hours for a 5 days course (6*5).
The course can be also extended to a 2 weeks course with the options 10 days or 12 days course if asked and agreed, depending on the project of the sending organization.
10 days are excluded the weekend (5+5), 12 days are from Monday to Saturday morning (6+6).
At the end of the training, JUMP delivers a formal certificate of attendance and the team is at disposal to fill the Europass certification document according to the EU model template and other needed documents for reporting of the sending institution.
