Young People and Artificial Intelligence: Insights from Erasmus DigiYouth Focus Groups

On March 25, 2026, two engaging focus groups on artificial intelligence (AI) were held in Soverato (Italy) with students from the Istituto Maria Ausiliatrice and international peers from Greece, Poland, and Estonia. Organized by JUMP as part of the Erasmus DigiYouth Project, the sessions explored how young people use AI in school and daily life, including tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity.

Participants shared reflections on AI’s benefits and risks, highlighted gaps in digital literacy, and discussed the importance of inclusive education. They also emphasized AI’s potential to support those who feel isolated and expressed a strong desire to actively contribute to an ethical and responsible digital future.

These first experiences confirmed that young people are not just users of AI, but active participants in shaping a more inclusive, informed, and creative digital society.
