The identity project shaped across borders: the International students’ Logo Competition of Fake News Busters

Young students have played a central and active role in the Erasmus+ project Fake News Busters since its very beginning. Indeed, they have contributed directly to shaping the project’s identity and communication, using key creative and digital tasks. It happened in February, during the official launch of the project implementation when students from the three partner countries – Italy, Sweden and Slovakia – took part in the creation of the project logo.

This activity was much more than a graphic design exercise. It offered students a hands-on opportunity to apply their digital skills, express their creativity and engage with the project’s core values – critical thinking, media literacy, and ethical use of digital tools. Through this task, students were not just learning about the project – they were building it.

Each country submitted 15 logo proposals developed by students. These have been part of an International Logo Competition, implemented using the interactive platform Mentimeter. Thanks to its generated QR codes and shared links, young people and teachers had the opportunity to choose their preferred logo directly from their mobile phones.

The Logo Competition was divided into two phases:

  • Phase one: a national voting determined the top three winners from each country;
  • Phase two: the total of the nine winning logos advanced to the Final Poll to determine the overall winner.

In total, participants in the logos voting process were 90 students between 15 and 17 years old from Italy, Sweden and Slovakia, informed and involved during many dissemination activities and educational meetings.

Overall, this experience empowered students to contribute meaningfully to an international project and the tangible result of their efforts is the official logo that now represents the Fake News Busters Erasmus+ project.
