SEARCHING FOR COLORS IN SOVERATO – Teaching MIL and video making to two Polish teachers

I love talking about my job. I love to find people that want to know about it.
I met Alicja and Anna and, after some time, I understood that they were there to know how cinema and
video are made.

They were, obviously, there also to have a deep look on how the media world is changing and how it can
relate to teaching and to relations with students. The first part of our meetings was all about how to
understand and better approach new media, with all their new problems that can easily led to bullying and misinformation. We talked a lot about examples of these new dangers and how to avoid tricky situations and behaviors that can trap ourselves first, and students then. With an inside look about A.I. and how to try to recognize false photos, videos and news.

Then we get to the magic world of cinema. We Started from theory about movies working phases and roles and then we watched some feature films examples to really understand framing and how important is in cinema language. After that we just have some fun trying some framing with cell phones to better get how to do a good framing in pictures and videos.

All the meetings has as target to do a little video, trying to apply in the best way possible all that has been learnt during the sessions. But first we just worked on to build the main center of every video. The idea! No idea no video!
So Anna and Alicja decided to work on colors, on all the color they saw around them in Soverato. I clearly
understand this choice, because Soverato is always full of beautiful colors, especially during summer!
Then it was time to go around and find these colors. Our two first time directors decided to have a walk on the seaside and on the main street and picked all the little distinctive details that we Italian are so used to see but that can hit the soul of a visitor.

In our last meeting our new friends edited their videos, giving some chili spicy flavor with an Italian
tarantella as a background music. Then we have a collective vision all together with other teachers in the
main conference room. And there Alicja and Anna colors just exploded on screen getting a round of applause by their colleagues.
