Natural Born Teachers: Wellbeing, Mindfulness, and Innovation in Teaching

During the week from March 15th to 21th, JUMP Academy Professional Training had the pleasure of hosting a teacher from Spain who attended the Natural Born Teachers program.

Natural Born Teachers is a training course focused on health, wellbeing, and mindfulness in the teaching profession. This unique program was created by JUMP and is based on the experience gained while developing an ongoing K2 Erasmus project involving partners from different countries.

The program is built around the needs identified through consultations with hundreds of European teachers, who shared their perspectives on the teaching profession and current levels of wellbeing and stress.

The training included both indoor sessions and outdoor activities. In particular, one morning was spent immersed in nature, focusing on breathing exercises, relaxation, and mindfulness practices designed to be easily integrated into everyday teaching. This outdoor experience allowed participants to experience firsthand how moments of pause and awareness can enhance concentration, reduce stress, and improve interaction with students.

In addition to the theoretical aspects, the course offered practical activities and workshops, encouraging teachers to experiment with non-formal and creative methodologies. Participants explored innovative strategies that can be applied directly in their classrooms, fostering a more balanced, engaging, and student-centered learning environment.

Overall, this experience provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on teaching practice, acquire new tools, and strengthen the connection between professional development, personal wellbeing, and innovative skills for modern education.
