Management morning training at ITE Calabretta: learning through fun and teamwork

In the week 12-19 april 2026, the secondary school students of ITA Soverato took part in an engaging and interactive management training session designed to introduce them to the world of business, leadership, and teamwork.

We started the morning with a fun icebreaker activity called the “Survival manager challenge.” Students were presented with a survival scenario and had to work together to decide which items and strategies would give their team the best chance of success. The challenge immediately encouraged communication, decision-making, and creative thinking while helping students get to know each other in a relaxed and enjoyable way.

Throughout the session, students explored several important learning goals. First, they gained an understanding of the basics of management, learning how managers organize resources, coordinate people, and guide teams toward achieving objectives. We also discussed the key differences between a manager and an entrepreneur. Students discovered that while managers focus on running and improving existing organizations, entrepreneurs are often responsible for creating new business ideas and taking risks to turn them into reality.
Another major focus of the training was teamwork. Students participated in collaborative activities that highlighted the importance of communication, trust, and shared responsibility. They learned that successful teams rely on every member contributing their strengths and working toward a common goal.
The session also provided opportunities to apply business economics knowledge through practical challenges and discussions. Students considered how decisions affect resources, efficiency, and overall business performance, helping them connect classroom learning with real-world situations.

One of the highlights of the morning was a business simulation using a Jenga game. While building and maintaining the tower, students experienced firsthand the challenges of leadership, planning, and decision-making under pressure. The activity demonstrated how managers must balance task completion with team coordination. Students quickly realized that effective leaders need to communicate clearly, assign responsibilities, and keep everyone focused on the objective while adapting to unexpected challenges.

The Jenga simulation also strengthened students’ problem-solving skills, as teams had to think strategically, assess risks, and make decisions together. The activity provided valuable insights into how businesses operate and how leaders guide teams through complex situations.
Overall, the management morning training was a highly successful and enjoyable experience. Through games, simulations, and discussions, students developed essential management and leadership skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the business world. Most importantly, they learned that effective management is not only about achieving results but also about supporting and motivating a team to succeed together.
