How Many People Use Artificial Intelligence and for What Purposes

Today, artificial intelligence is used by many people. At first, it was mostly used by specialists or companies, but these data are changing, so many more “ordinary” people are using intelligent tools for personal life, study, and work.
There are approximate data that help better understand the evolution of this phenomenon.

It is estimated that 1.2–1.8 billion people worldwide have used artificial intelligence tools, of which hundreds of millions of users are active every day.
About 66% of people use AI tools for various tasks. Among the most widespread seems to be ChatGPT, which reportedly counts around 800 million weekly active users, with billions of requests per day.
It is estimated that in Italy tens of millions of users have tried at least one generative AI application.

The purposes for which it is used are different: answering questions or generating textual content, automating repetitive tasks, decision support at work, and personal digital assistants.
It could be said that artificial intelligence is becoming an integral part of the digital life of the global population.
