T9, the predictive text system used on mobile phones in the 1990s, can be seen as one of the first steps toward today’s intelligent technologies. Although it did not rely on neural networks or machine learning, it could predict words using algorithms and built-in dictionaries.
Today’s AI-powered keyboards go a step further. They learn from users’ writing habits and provide increasingly personalized suggestions, adapting over time to each person’s writing style.
