During the week 1-8 june 2025, I had a training with 8 teachers focusing on developing and enhancing critical thinking skills. It was interactive, reflective, and practice-oriented, enabling the participants to explore the most important strategies for fostering critical thinking in their students.
The principal objectives of the session were to: define the meaning of critical thinking and understand how it plays a fundamental role in education. The teachers also explored some practical strategies to encourage this thinking in their students.
The program was structured in the following way: An introduction to critical thinking, definition, benefits and possible challenges. Last but not least, critical thinking in the context of the 21st-century skills. Furthermore, the session included a series of presentations, group work, and reflective activities.
Moreover, the participants showed a high level of engagement throughout the entire session and were enthusiastic in adapting the new strategies to suit their diverse students. Finally, the teachers expressed that they found the session valuable, especially the practical and collaborative elements.
In conclusion, the session ended on a successful note by meeting its objectives and providing a supportive environment for the educators to understand and apply critical thinking in their classes. The collaborative and engaging atmosphere encouraged the teachers to take home many useful tools to share with colleagues and students alike.
