A Week of Collaborative Learning: Coaching &Mentoring and Emotional Competencies at Jump

During the week of October 26 to November 2, JUMP hosted four teachers from different European countries: two for the Coaching & Mentoring course and two for the Emotional Competencies course.

We decided to combine the two training programs because they both address complementary aspects of personal and professional development, creating a more complete and integrated learning experience.

In the Coaching & Mentoring course, participants explored methodologies and tools to effectively support individuals or teams in achieving their goals, developing skills such as active listening, constructive feedback, and personalized guidance.

In the Emotional Competencies course, the focus was on recognizing and managing one’s own and others’ emotions, empathy, resilience, and emotional communication—essential tools for fostering effective relationships and a positive work environment.

During the week, the teachers carried out various practical activities linked to both courses and created lesson plans, which they then had the opportunity to implement in role-play sessions, simulating real-life situations and putting their newly acquired skills into practice.

The combination of the two courses allowed participants to explore the connections between coaching and emotional intelligence: a good coach must be able to manage their own emotions while supporting the emotional development of others, and emotional competencies are strengthened through mentoring and feedback practices. This integration promoted deeper, collaborative, and intercultural learning, enriching both the professional skills and personal growth of the participants.

This experience confirmed how valuable it is to integrate the technical skills of coaching with the management of emotions: only through a complete and conscious approach is it possible to foster genuine growth, both professionally and personally. Participants had the opportunity to engage, experiment, and learn in a practical way, strengthening their ability to guide, motivate, and understand others. The meeting of teachers from different European countries further enriched the experience, highlighting the value of intercultural exchange and collaboration in developing innovative and inclusive practices.
